HR Management Interface
Problem: Toro's HR management web interface
was cumbersome and difficult for the casual user.
Solution: The end-users were comfortable
with a Microsoft Access front-end that was previously developed for the old HR application.
Twin Cities Solutions took that Access application and completely rebuilt it to
work with the Masterpiece database. It gave the users a familiar user interface
which eased the transition and gave them the power to create their own reports using
standard Access reports. It also included various levels of security which restricted
access to confidential information such as salary and payroll history.

Single Sign-On
Problem: Toro provides many secured web
sites to their distributors, dealers, and partners. Unfortunately each web site
has its own security system which requires users to remember several user I.D.s
and passwords.
Solution: Twin Cities Solutions worked with Toro to
implement Sun Java System Access Manager which provides single sign-on for
Toro's distributors, dealers, and other partners. The project has included: design of the LDAP schema,
configuration of the web servers, migrating all of the extranet user accounts
from MySQL to an LDAP-based authentication system, creation of web sites to administer the user
accounts, and migrating affected web applications to use LDAP for user
information instead of the old legacy MySQL database.

Oracle Database & Web Development
Problem: Several different databases that
contained distributor information were all being maintained separately. The result
was that people continually had to share changes with each other which were then
retyped into each database. It eventually led to inconsistencies between the databases.
Solution: The solution was to combine
the databases into one larger Oracle database that could be shared by all of the
interested parties. Twin Cities Solutions gathered all of the existing databases
along with any new requirements and designed a common database schema. All of the
existing data was migrated and cleansed. The various Access applications were rebuilt
to use the new Oracle database so the users still had the same user interface which
eased the transition. Various web sites were also developed using WebSphere to take
advantage of the new database. |
